Three of our favourite nursery designers shared their words of wisdom for creating a lovely space that will fit any budget:

“With children, stuff and clutter comes with the territory. Try to keep things simple and don’t over-decorate. Space will become a luxury both physically and mentally.” —John Tong, dad of Uma, Luka and Maelle.

“Do what you like, not what you think is necessary. Not everything has to be pristine. Clear-coat old pieces for protection from peeling and potential lead paint.” —Stephan Howard, dad of Mari-Sol.

“Don’t just head to one baby store stressed out, assuming you have to buy everything all at once. Shop around and don’t just look for baby furniture. It takes more time but it’s worth it.” —Tanya Linton, mom of Eddie.
