WORK RETREAT

Plenty of us dream about creating the ideal home office, but not everyone has the foresight or the energy to turn an unused area above a detached garage into a stunning space. For
our just back-to-work mom and author, creating a relaxing environment was her ultimate goal. The location, a few steps out the back door and up a flight of stairs, was far enough away to get work done but close enough to her one-year-old. She took full advantage of the opportunity to design the room in her own personal style (time-worn and textured) and surrounded herself with the things she loves, such as antique stone urns, mercury glass, trinkets from her travels, orchids and peonies and pictures of loved ones.
