Swap that clichéd Halloween-party look (orange plastic pumpkins, tired black hats) for an inspired theme of monsters, rustic elements and ghoulish treats. Balance the silly/scary decor elements with earthy gourds (carved or not) and a neutral-toned table covering, and you’ll find it’s plenty fun – and easy on the eyes, too. Great if you’re turning your kids’ monster melee into an all-ages All Hallows Eve par-tay!
Tip: Dress lining makes a cheap table covering (about $4 per yard) and looks stylishly grim when layered with cheesecloth. Leave the edges on both frayed.
