No matter what you’ve heard, Twitter is way more than “just your Facebook status.” It’s more accurate to call it micro-blogging: a way to quickly share bite-sized (each Tweet is limited to 140 characters) bits of info, great links or calls for advice. When you create an account, you find and follow people that interest you (celebrities, news organizations, corporations, mom bloggers and all kinds of regular folks have accounts), and get a constant feed of their Tweets. In turn, you can post your own Tweets, or reply to others and develop your own list of followers. “It’s easy to get into quickly,” says Tempelman-Kluit. “That’s key for moms. Plus, you can engage or not at will, and unlike email, you don’t feel you need to read everything that comes in, so it can save time if you use it right.” Follow us on Twitter at twitter.com/canadianfamily.
