Exploring the Yukon

This summer explore the splendor of the Yukon's golden frontier - where the attractions are wild, natural and authentic. Just 34,000 people inhabit more than 483,000 square kilometres—a land mass the size of Spain—with more than three-quarters living in the capital, Whitehorse. It’s a territory of extremes so read on to catch all the excitement.

Enjoy the freshest bread in the Yukon, at a bakery near the shores of Lake Laberge. Or take a tour on the Yukon River on the Klondike Spirit, an authentic paddlewheeler, before joining the Sourtoe Cocktail Club at the Downtown Hotel. (This strange and wonderful Dawson City tradition invites the brave to throw back a cocktail made of one part whiskey and one part petrified human toe. Once it touches your lip, you’re officially in the club. Although kids aren’t allowed in the bar, they can still partake—the Captain will bring the toe into the hotel’s lobby, and kids can touch it in a tumbler filled with water.)
