“Even though a workout can feel uncomfortable and foreign to a healing body, it’s very energizing,” and helps you feel connected to your body, says personal trainer and wellness coach Bonni Gellman. Movement is a critical part of any healing because it boosts circulation. “Take time to focus,” says Gellman. Connect with your breath and focus on feeling each muscle move as you slowly go through your workout routine. Exercise is about learning to trust your body again and giving yourself permission to start at the beginning.
