Some kids just love salads and will happily gobble them up. Those kids are not mine. Trying to get my kids to eat salad is quite a chore around here. They aren’t huge fans of leafy green veggies, and they really don’t like the taste of most dressings. My daughter is slowly coming around to at least trying them, but my son is still pretty much against them. I thought if I made them a cute salad, it might encourage them to at least try a taste of it. This is not a miracle solution by any means, but most of the “face” of this salad was eaten, and a few leafy greens may have been eaten, too. That’s progress in my picky family.
This was, again, really easy to make and I think it turned out adorable! Here’s how I made it.
What you’ll need:
Directions:
1. On top of your bowl of lettuce, take your veggies and arrange a face. I used matchstick carrots for the hair, cucumber and olive slices for the eyes, a baby tomatoe nose, 2 radish slices for the cheeks, and a red pepper strip for the mouth. You can really use any veggies you have on hand/or that your kids like.
2. Pour some dressing in a small container so your kids can dip their veggies if they like. If your kids really like dressing, they may just pour it on their salad.
So easy, and so healthy. Enjoy!
