Online Internship Opportunities
Want to gain valuable experience working at one of Canada’s fastest-growing parenting and lifestyle websites? Want to work with an exciting, dynamic team on fun, engaging content? If so, read on.
All internships are unpaid. We ask for a 9-to-5 commitment (with room for a bit of flexibility), Monday to Friday for a duration of three months.
Editorial Internship
We have two internships running concurrently at all times. Our ideal candidates:
- are interested in pursuing a well-rounded experience in all aspects of a magazine website: producing content, online publishing, social networking, search engine optimization, information architecture, usability and more.
- have graduated from online publishing programs, or are in their final years of their programs. (Equivalent experience is also acceptable.)
- have an understanding of web content as it relates to search engine optimization and a web audience
- are passionate about the web and are already plugged in to social networking in their daily lives
- have some experience or knowledge of the fact-checking process.
- are personable, flexible and quick on their feet.
- approach each task, no matter how important or menial, with the same dedication, enthusiasm and attention to detail.
Duties include:
- fact-checking
- proofreading
- some content writing (articles, slideshows, recipes) as necessary
- blogging (3 to 4 times a day)
- managing our Twitter account
- publishing content from the magazine to the website
- liaising with third party content providers
- general assistance
This is not strictly a writing internship. We’re looking for candidates who are interested in gaining experience in most, if not all aspects, of an online publishing business.
