If your bathroom has become as packed with products as your local beauty boutique, it might be time to streamline the collection. Some brands can actually be used by mom and dad alike. While men’s skin is oilier, thanks to testosterone that stimulates the oil glands, and sensitive due to shaving, men and women can often get away with sharing cleansers and moisturizers.

“General skincare that does not target aging or other problems is the way to go for unisex skincare,” says Toronto dermatologist Dr. Sandy Skotnicki-Grant, medical director of the Bay Dermatology Centre. “Products that are simple, fragrance-free, without acids or irritants and not too oily would cover the subtle differences in men’s and women’s skin.”
