In our summer issue (on newsstands today!) we’re sharing a ton of easy, beautiful and delicious ideas for celebrating just about any occasion at home. From the best cupcake recipe ever (seriously!) to great loot bag ideas and etiquette advice for moms, we’re hoping to make your summer party plans a little less complicated. And on that note, we’ve devised not just one but two awesome summer centrepiece ideas, both for under $25.
First, we have craft and style guru Arren Williams’ dollar store creation (shown left). To make: Use hot glue to cover melamine plates with fake flowers. Then attach each faux topiary to a bamboo stick and “plant” in a terracotta pot.
On the flip side we have a garden arrangement by Jen, CF’s editor-in-chief (and resident faux flower snob). To make: Mix plants with big leaves with something vine-like and a low growing. Adorn with large blossoms, like poppies, peonies or hydrangeas, just before your guests arrive.
After a very official (and anonymous) office tally Jen is up by only one vote. But now it’s up to you to decide who gets the bragging rights. Take our poll below to tell us which one you like best!
Either one not your style? Try one of these super easy ideas:
• A sweet idea for a child’s birthday
• Milk carton vases
• Potted pinwheels
• Urn planting
• Seasonal menagerie
