It’s not uncommon for a curious baby or toddler to pop something into their mouth that isn’t supposed to be eaten. A choking baby and a panic-stricken parent or care-giver can sometimes be the result. Despite panic being your worst enemy, knowing the proper first aid on an infant can save a life. St. John Ambulance offers classes on first aid, including, but not exclusive to classes on how to help a choking baby and how properly perform CPR.
Emily Mathieu of The Toronto Star took a class from St John’s Ambulance and filmed her experience. Please note, however, that watching a video is no replacement for taking an actual first aid class.
