Well, it worked for 9-year-old Beatrice Delap of London, England.

She wrote a letter to Jack Sparrow asking for his help staging a mutiny against her teachers.

“We are a bunch of budding young pirates and we were having a bit of trouble mutiny-ing against the teachers, and we’d love if you could come and help,” she wrote.

Johnny Depp just happened to be in south-east London, filming the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film, and actually showed up at Delap’s school last Wednesday in full Jack Sparrow regalia!

He gave the school 10 minutes notice before he arrived, brandishing the letter from Delap, whom he called up for a hug in front of an impromptu school assembly.

We sure would like Depp’s help with a few things (ahem). How about an issue of Canadian Family guest edited by Jack Sparrow? We’re going to start crafting our letter now…
