My son is at an age where behaviour management is crucial in raising a good little citizen and a model son. This means me trolling through, oh, say every parenting book ever for the best technique. Unfortunately, and yet perhaps unsurprisingly, my “scowl, clap and growl” approach was scoffed at last night. Apparently, it’s best to model the response you’d like to see later. And scowling, clapping and growling isn’t acceptable in broader society, or at least the civilized half, anyway. Which leads me to wrestle with the role of fear. What do you think? Please take our poll and let me know. Any comments and tips on discipline, especially with toddlers, are very, very welcome.
