Magwood put her own stamp on the house, decorating the new room as she has the rest of the space, with a restful palette of white, hazy blue and grey, a blend of old and classic contemporary furnishings, and a pleasing sense of order. Weathered French fabrics and throw cushions soften all the bedrooms. Her style is consistently crisp and clean, with family pieces, photographs or travel-related treasures adding warmth and visual interest. Cheery orange accents enliven the nursery and the former guestroom down the hall, which, with the arrival of Olivia two years ago, was pressed into service as a full-time bedroom for Fin. “No, we never went for the cutesy bordered kid’s rooms,” laughs Magwood, who adds that copious storage for toys and sports equipment, both inside and out, has eased the congestion in the house.

Double the Fun
With two sofas, everyone can curl up together, and charcoal-grey wool upholstery is durable and stain-forgiving. Colour is injected with cushions and throws. A large upholstered ottoman is a smart, safe, accident-proof coffee table.
