Sunflower Bird Feeder
Ages
4+
Time it takes
30 minutes (not including drying time)
Materials
• Sunflower
• Wood branch wreath
• A bundle of straw
Steps
1. Allow a sunflower to dry out in a cool, ventilated area. Once the head has turned black and the back is yellow, it is ready.
2. Use a small woven-branch wreath (purchased at a craft store) as your base. The sunflower should not fall through.
3. Separate and braid a bundle of straw about a ½" thick and three feet long.
4. Repeat step 3 two more times so you have three braided strands.
5. Attach each braid to the wreath with a knot, making sure they are evenly spaced around the wreath.
6. Bring the loose ends of each strand up above the bird feeder and tie them together.
7. Hang from a tree.
