Why You Should Own This Book: When Molly Bang’s daughter, Monika, was two years old, Bang spent some time away from home for the first time since Monika was born. During her time away, Bang penned a poem for Monika to be read by Monika’s father. From this poem came the endearing and simple bedtime book Ten, Nine, Eight. In 1983, the book won the Caldecott Honor Book award as well as the Kate Greenaway Honour.
