Heat a dry skillet. Throw in a few amaranth seeds. If they pop right away, the pan is hot enough; otherwise wait a minute or two.
Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of seeds in pan and cover (preferably with a glass lid). Shake pan around. When the majority are popped, transfer into a bowl. Repeat.
If you are not growing your own amaranth, you can find the seeds at health food stores or in the organic aisle at your local grocery store.
