Ingredients
  • 2 cans 19-oz black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 Cups coarsely chopped red onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 Cups chunky salsa, medium heat
  • 1/2 Cups corn-chip crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 13 pitas, halved
  • Directions
  • 1.

    Preheat barbecue to medium-high heat.

  • 2.

    In a bowl, mash beans with a fork or potato masher, leaving some beans intact.

  • 3.

    Mix in remaining ingredients, except oil, and shape mixture into 6 patties.

  • 4.

    Brush patties with oil and grill 4 minutes per side. Serve in pita pockets or buns dressed up with your favourite toppings.
