J Lo is on the cover of Vogue magazine this month, looking fiesty and stunning in red. Inside, the 42-year-old star tells Vogue about her own insecurities, how her ex Marc Anthony helped her to overcome them, her rise to stardom, life on American Idol, her struggles with being tough (both on the show and with her kids) and her take on why moms feel so guilty all the time:
“[Kids] do something to you where you want to do everything right for them,” she says. “And obviously no parent does everything right. It’s this weird thing that happens where you are striving to be as good as you can be so that they turn out well. And that requires that you be a really great, evolved, aware person in every moment. Which is pretty awesome. But it’s also putting tremendous pressure on yourself—which is why women feel so guilty!”
Also worth noting is the slightly awkward quote from Steven Tyler about being a co-host with Lopez on Idol, referencing the “healthy adult sexuality” the hosts all feel for each other when they’re sitting on the judging panel. “By the time all three of us are muffed and buffed and puffed I think we’re all sexually attracted to each other, first and foremost,” he says. Okay then.
