Say it with us now: “I love fishes ’cause they’re SO delicious!” That’s one product jingle we can actually get behind—because it’s true! There’s a reason that goldfish crackers are such a huge hit with toddlers, parents and grandparents alike: they’ve got that winning combination of crunchy, cheesy AND food shaped like something fun. The only thing that could make them better? Making them in your own kitchen.
That’s right, homemade goldfish crackers. The idea for these tasty treats was shared by Nourhan on her blog Miss Anthropist’s Kitchen. She also shared an amazing idea for making your own fish-shaped cracker cutter. Brilliant!
What you’ll need:
For the cutter:
• A pop can
• Scissors
• Tape or staples
For the crackers:
• All-purpose flour
• Unsalted butter
• Extra-sharp cheddar cheese
• Salt
• Pepper
• Onion powder (optional)
You’ll find the full recipe, plus step-by-step instructions for making your cracker cutter, over on Nourhan’s site. Nourhan notes that the crackers are a bit chewy on the first day, but harden to a nice crunch by day two… if they last that long!
