To ground the palette, choose one piece of furniture you’re absolutely in love with, and let it influence the rest. If you’re willing to splurge, a design-forward crib (bamboo is hot!) is easiest, but any great dresser (with a minimum depth of 18″), temporarily converted into a change table, is a wiser investment. Hutches are back for the rest of the house: look for a slender profile to suit a smaller room.
