6 Last-Minute Gift Ideas for Your Child’s Teacher

How can it be the end of the school year already? Weren’t you just at the mall, picking out backpacks and debating the finer points of leggings vs. pants? If you’ve found yourself frantically scrambling for an end-of-year gift for your child’s teacher, you’re not alone. Our senior associate online editor, Ali, found herself in that very predicament this week, so she turned to our readers on Facebook and Twitter for their best gift-giving advice. We’ve rounded up 6 great ideas (one of them was a runaway hit!) to help you find that perfect last-minute gift.

Grow Your Own Gift

One teacher gift you may not have thought of? Something green! "I always bought a perennial," says Cherie-Lynn Buchanan (@CLBuchananPhoto), via Twitter. "A planted herb is always good, too. Basil and mint are my two faves."

We love this idea—not only is it relatively inexpensive to put together (a small clay pot, some soil and a few seeds), but it's also something that teachers can use (in the case of potted herbs) and enjoy. Plus, it's a really cute way for your child to say "thanks for helping me grow."
