A Healthy Snack that’s Just Right for Summer: Fruit and Cheese “Campfires”

Photography by Disney Family Fun

Yesterday we talked about one of our favourite summer snacks: s’mores. But what would a s’more be without a campfire? Campfires are a summer staple, right up there with ice pops and dinner on the grill. They play a key role in telling ghost stories at summer camp and roasting marshmallows during a backyard staycation. Plus, they make a great afternoon snack.

Wait, what?

That’s right—thanks to the team at Family Fun, campfires are also a healthy and delicious afternoon nosh. This simple snack looks just like the real deal and is sure to please even the pickiest eater.

What you’ll need:
• Grapes (red and green)
• Stick pretzels
• Cheddar cheese
• Carrots

You’ll find the quick and easy three-step directions for this snack over at the Family Fun website. If your kids can’t have cheese, stick with carrot “flames” instead. You could even throw in a couple strawberries for a more colourful fire effect.
