What’s better than a perfectly decorated Christmas tree, with its twinkling lights and beautiful decorations? How about a Christmas tree that you can eat! Whether you’re hosting Christmas dinner for the family or celebrating the holidays over appetizers with a few close friends, we think this edible fruit tree idea from PJ Gudadhe—which we spotted over on her blog Ginger & Garlic—is sure to be a huge hit with your guests.

These fruit trees are easy to put together, which makes them a great edible craft project for kids. Once your trees are complete, they’ll make a beautiful addition to your holiday table—and they’re delicious. What’s not to love?

What you’ll need:
• A Styrofoam cone to use as your base
• Toothpicks
• Cookie cutters (think holiday shapes)
• Plenty of fruit (PJ used grapes, strawberries, kiwi and melon, among others)

PJ has shared the instructions for making this beautiful edible fruit tree over at Ginger & Garlic (along with a recipe for some amazing espresso chocolate truffles). If you’re looking for some more tasty holiday treats, be sure to check out our 2011 Christmas Guide.
