Looking for a great baking project to try with your junior chef this weekend? Try these sweet Sugar and Spice Owl Cookies from Megan, who shared the idea over on her blog, Take a Megabite. They are impossibly cute and are guaranteed to be a big hit with the little baker in your life.

What you’ll need:
• All-purpose flour
• Baking powder
• Salt
• Ground cinnamon
• Nutmeg
• Ground ginger
• Allspice
• Pinch of cloves
• Sugar
• Brown sugar
• Unsalted butter
• Large egg
• Vanilla extract
• Chocolate chips
• Almonds
• Shredded coconut (optional)

You’ll find the full recipe and baking instructions over at Take a Megabite. We think kids will have a blast decorating their owls with chocolate chip eyes and coconut feathers. You can even get really creative and add icing and chocolate sprinkles for feathers, or even extra pieces of cookie dough to make wings. The sky’s the limit!

Too hot to turn on the oven? Try these adorable no-bake Oreo owl cookies, instead.
