Apple pie in a jar is a delicious and appealing looking dessert. Braeburn and gala apples are especially good for cooking but you can use any type your prefer. When cooking apples, it’s best to brush them with a little bit of lemon juice to keep them from browning. Here’s a handy tip: apples are a great way to ripen other fruit, due to the ethylene gas they produce. Place a a ripe apple in a paper bag along with other desired fruit, cut the bag in a few places with a knife and leave in room temperature for a couple of days.
