We aren’t really fans of giving mom a dish towel for Mother’s Day, but this idea could easily be used for a spring tablecloth or cloth napkins, and even an apron (but only if she really loves to cook!). Elyse over at By Little Hands suggests attaching foam shapes to cardboard for a stencil, but you could also use potato stamps.

If you picked up a copy of our April issue you would have seen our Alice in Wonderland fashion shoot. We had tons of fun making it but we couldn’t have done it without some of our absolute most-favourite children’s clothing companies, like Patouche who fashioned the pants and vest of this outfit.
In fact you can find Patouche all over our issues, she made this great headwrap and this capelet too! The stunning designer mama behind this brand is Toronto-based Kessa Laxton, mom of two. If you like what you saw on our Mad Hatter, than you’ll be thrilled to hear that Kessa is marking down the prices of the fabulous vests he’s wearing (among other things, all of which are handmade and locally produced) to just $25.
You can visit her store to buy online or find retail stores.

Are you a bargain shopper? Have you snagged an amazing deal lately? Well, we want to know about it! Tell us about your best “Luxe for Less” purchase for a chance to win either a $50 gift certificate from Babies R Us or a Lux UltraSoft Hobo Diaper Bag.
Our second lucky winner is Debbie Haentjens who shares our love for reclaiming our neighbours ‘trash’ and turning it into our own treasure (more on this in the weeks to come!). “Refinishing, re-inventing and re-purposing what someone else deems as trash gives me a sense of purpose, pride and accomplishment,” said Debbie – and we couldn’t agree more. In fact, we are currently on the hunt for a child-size antique dresser (if you’re in the Toronto area let us know!).
This week we’d love to hear how you save money on children’s items – be it toys, gear or clothes! Do you shop second-hand, if so, where? Do you participate in toy swaps? Or use Craigslist? Let us know and you could win!
This weeks winner will be announced next Friday, along with another round of the contest.
To enter to win, send us your “Luxe for Less” find at win@canadianfamily.ca.
