Barbie Fashionista Gets a Leg Up on the Competition

barbiefashionIn the wake of the Bratz, Liv dolls and Moxie Girlz, Barbie is embarking on a new venture to master the dolly market competition.

After the success of last season’s Barbie by David Dixon fashion collection, which debuted at Toronto’s LG Fashion Week, the Barbie and David are back with a spring line and whole new outlook. Stepping away from her multiple careers (Barbie has worked in every industry from law and medicine to babysitting), the new Barbie Fashionista dolls—six in total, including ‘Sassy,’ ‘Cutie,’ and ‘Wild’—will focus their attention on being fashionable pop icons. Apparently, this means more from Barbie’s already-established fashion partnerships, a music video featuring a new dance called “The Barbie” (complete with ironic song choice) and poseable limbs (which make it easier to strut on the catwalk and get jiggy with it).

The hope is that the new dance routine, which was apparently choreographed in part by JaQuel Knight of Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies‘ video, will entice people to “Point, Twist, Snap” like the fashionista dolls, and inevitably take over the world one dance move at a time. Consider yourself warned.
