In the author’s own words:

1. The Man in the Moon-Fixer’s Mask by JonArno Lawson (Boyds Mills) is fantastic, whimsical poetry all about kid stuff.

2. Whatever Next! By Jill Murphy (Macmillan) is for your space traveller.

3. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? by Bill Martin Jr., illustrated by Eric Carle (Henry Holt) is a simple book that we enjoy reading again, again and again.

4. Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss (Random House). Doesn’t every parent want to read Seuss?

5. The Legend of the Three Trees by Tommy Nelson (Tommy Nelson) should be read in the shade of your favourite tree.

Lam’s first novel, Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures (Doubleday Canada), won the 2006 Giller Prize.
