Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • ½ cup salt
  • Food colouring

Directions

1 In a medium saucepan, add food colouring to water. We recommend gel food colouring, because the colour is more concentrated. Use more food colouring than you think you’ll need the colour is diluted when the rest of the ingredients are added.

2 Mix in remaining ingredients

3 Place saucepan on medium heat and stir continuously until the mixture thickens and gets to a pliable consistency.

4 Before it cools, roll out onto a clean surface and knead in any remaining bits (be careful – the dough will be very warm).

5 Store in an airtight container.

Note: Do not double the recipe.

Shopping tip: Cream of tartar is a powder; it can be found in the spice aisle.
