Pinecones can be woven into whimsical wreaths that children will be proud of making themselves. The scale arrangement of the common large woody ones (these are the female cones, which produce seeds) lends itself to easy assembly.

The Materials

  • Pinecones of various shapes, sizes and species
  • A grapevine wreath
  • Beading wire or twine
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Rose hip or winterberry
  • Yarn

The How To

With beading wire, string together two garlands of pinecones; secure one on top of another to a grapevine wreath. Pipe cleaner flowers with rose hips spruce it up; suspend it with yarn to make a floating island for your favourite forest fairy to swing from.
