1 We loved Live Clean’s shampoos and conditioners and were thrilled when we learned they were venturing into more hair-care products. They’re free of parabens, are pure vegan and are 98 percent plant-derived. Firm Hold Styling Mousse, $7, Live Clean.
2 This rich, lightly scented face cream is 98.99 percent natural, and contains no parabens and no pthalates. Naturally Ageless Skin Firming Night Crème, $30 for 2 oz., Burt’s Bees.
3 This luxurious mask is formulated with organic essential oils and organic brown sugar, and without a lot of the nasty additives (no parabens, phthalates, PABA, animal ingredients, mineral oil or petrolatum). Plantidote Mega-Mushroom Skin-Calming Face Mask, $44 for 100 mL, Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins.
4 Made with 100 percent natural ingredients (organic where possible) this line is also free of parabens and petroleum by-products. Pure Body Lotion, $28, NÃ darra.
“NÃ darra’s Pure Relief Mint Lip Balm uses all-natural ingredients and is a quick soothing fix for lips — I keep one handy at all times. Their Pure Intensive moisturizer is also a favourite. It softens my sensitive, part-Irish, all-temperamental skin instantly.”

5 This line of hair-care products is made with cold-pressed organic essence of sesame and reduced synthetic ingredients (no artificial fragrances, no silicones, and no parabens). The company also initiates tropical reforestation to the tune of an annual minimum of 70 hectares. Essensity Smoothing Cream, $22 for 150 mL, Schwarzkopf Professional.
6 This Toronto-based company makes a beautiful line of soaps that contain only organic olive oil, beeswax, artesian spring water and naturally occurring glycerin. And they smell divine! Organic Body Soap in Spearmint and Sage, Vanilla and Clove and Canadian Prairie Grains, $12 each, Consonant Body.
“I love that with this soap, my skin feels clean and soft (even in the winter). I love that it comes with a loofah sponge. I love knowing that I’m not putting any harmful chemicals on my family’s bodies. One caveat with natural soaps: because they don’t have all of those chemical additives, they are used up quickly (so buy three bars at a time).”
