Box:
- Cut both pieces of foam board into 56 cm x 94 cm rectangle. Re-cut the sides so they taper in by 5 cm on the bottom. (Note: most craft stores will make the cuts for you.)
- Cut a zigzag design along the top edge using a utility knife.
- Use the leftover straight pieces of foam board for the sides of the box. Continue zigzag design on top of sides as well.
- Cut holes for the arms no less than 2.5 cm down from the bottom of the zigzag design, and centred in the middle of the sides.
- Position all four sides on a flat surface, taping only three joints of the box together. (Much easier to glue ribbon on to a flat surface) (See photo)
- Use strips of ribbon or red duct tape (easier than paint!) to make vertical stripes on the box.
- Tape together final side of box. Attach final ribbon to cover tape.
- Using WordArt in Microsoft Word (or similar), create a “Popcorn” sign. Cut out and glue on to box.
- Cut out a foam rectangle for the top of the popcorn box, measuring 25cm x 46 cm. Cut out a circle for head to fit through. Cover foam with popcorn. (Glue gun, although tedious, works best as white glue causes popcorn to shrivel)
- Hot glue popped popcorn to the top “zigzags” of the box. (see photo)
- Suggestions for clothing: wear a white turtleneck, white pants or leggings, and white or red shoes.
