Have someone on your holiday gift list who is particularly hard to shop for? On the hunt for a thoughtful gift for teachers, daycare providers and other special people in your child’s life? Consider a Survival Gift from UNICEF Canada—a new initiative that helps to provide items essential for survival and development to children in need all over the world.
There are 45 different Survival Gifts to choose from, in six different categories: health, water, food, education, play and emergency. The gifts range in price from $10—which can be used to purchase items like a bed net to protect children from malaria, or a box of Plumpy’Nut food packages to combat malnourishment—all the way up to $500 for a pump that will provide clean, safe water for an entire community.
Once you’ve chosen your Survival Gift, you can select a card or e-card to be delivered to the person for whom you’re purchasing the gift (note: for hard-copy cards, the last day to order for delivery by Christmas is December 12th). UNICEF then sends the Survival Gift directly to the children who need it most.
Now that’s a gift that keeps on giving.
