Cake Form:
Note: Use low heat setting on glue gun for foam. It will melt if high heat setting is used.

    • Measure child from shoulders to knees. Divide by two. You’ll use this number for the height of the bottom two tiers. For the purposes of these directions, we’ve used 25 cm.
    • Trace out two different-sized rectangles of foam for the sides of the cake layers (middle: 25 cm x 100 cm, bottom:  25 cm x 150 cm). Cut out. Glue short ends together to create two circles.
    • Using a utility knife, cut out a cardboard circle for the top of each cake tier, measuring 51 cm by 31 cm in diameter. Cut inner circle for body/head to fit through.

  • Glue cardboard to top edge of foam, making sure edges meet.
  • Using the same dimensions given above plus an extra 2 cm border, trace out a felt cover for each layer of the cake. Cut out. Glue top on first, clipping at intervals for the curved edges and tucking under. Cut out fabric center and clip at intervals around the circle. Glue under. (See photo)
  • Glue/stitch fabric sides together and slip over foam base.
  • Use trims to hide where fabric edges meet.

Hat

  • Measure around child’s head. Add 2 cm. Use that measurement to cut out the hat crown (20 cm x your child’s head circumference). Check for fit. Glue ends together.
  • Trace out the top of the crown on to cardboard. Cut out. Glue to top of hat.
  • Cut out foam circle for hat brim adding 4 cm to the radius. Cut out inner circle for hat to sit in, and insert hat crown into it. Glue crown into the inner circle of the brim.
  • Using the same dimensions above plus an extra 2 cm border, trace out a felt cover for crown and brim. Cut out. Glue top on first, clipping at intervals for the curved edges and tucking under. Glue/stitch fabric sides together and slip over hat.
  • Decorate as desired. Glue a faux candle or plastic bride and groom to the top of the hat.
