Summer may not officially start until June, but after a long weekend, we have hot weather on our minds. And what could be a better way to prepare for the return of the summer season than with a colourful sun catcher? Whether you’re trapped inside on a rainy day or just looking for a quick afternoon activity to keep wee ones entertained, this simple sun catcher craft from Morning Sun Rae will brighten your spirits as well as your home.
What you’ll need:
• Construction paper
• Wax paper
• Crayon shavings
• An iron
You can find the full instructions (with step-by-step photos) for Catching the Sun over on Rae’s site. If you don’t have crayon shavings handy, follow Rae’s lead and make a big batch with old crayons and a cheese grater.
Once you’re done with the sun, use the same basic idea to make sun catcher flowers, butterflies—the sky’s the limit!
