An Easy Way to Decorate Your Home for Halloween

Just because summer is over doesn't mean you have to leave your urns barren. Decorate yours with this pretty (creepy) pumpkin display

From the print edition, October 2012

Photography by Donna Griffith

By the end of the month, chrysanthemums have lost their lustre and you’re searching for something spooktacular to adorn your urns. Our solution? Just add pumpkins!

What you’ll need:

Pumpkins (a variety of all shapes, sizes and colours)
Artificial bugs, birds, rodents and flowers
Black spray paint

Directions:

1. Stack the pumpkins (thread on a large dowel if placing in a windy spot) and embellish with artificial bugs, birds, rodents and flowers, all spray-painted black.

2. For extra interest, we planted mini ornamental cabbages and English ivy around the rim of the pot.
