Dolores Cortes—a popular swimwear designer—has chosen 10-month-old Valentina Guerrero to be the face of her newest ad campaign. The adorable little girl will model in ads for Cortes’ children’s line, DC Kids. Guerrero appears on the cover for the DC Kids Summer 2013 catalogue looking cute as can be in a floral, pink swimsuit.
“People with Down syndrome are just as beautiful and deserve the same opportunities. I’m thrilled to have Valentina modelling for us,” Cortes told Adweek.
DC Kids USA will donate 10 percent of proceeds from their latest collection to the Down Syndrome Association of Miami—where the little girl was born last September.
“I am very happy that DC Kids USA chose Valentina as their main model because this carries a clear message of inclusion and starts changing the old perception of Down syndrome, thus generating a much needed transformation in society,” Guerrero’s mother told the Daily News.
This isn’t the first time a company has received praise for their innovative model selection. Back in January, Target featured a 6-year-old boy with Down syndrome in their ads.
