It’s Great Teacher Award time again! For the sixth year in a row, Canadian Family is once again celebrating the teachers who make such a difference in our children’s minds and lives. If you know an exceptional elementary- or secondary-school educator who has gone above and beyond to help his or her students, nominate that teacher today by filling out this form.

Twelve semifinalists, chosen by a panel of education experts based on the reasons for and number of nominations, will be announced on May 16, 2012. An online vote at canadianfamily.ca will determine the three winners. So get your whole school or community to nominate and then vote for your great teacher!

The three outstanding educators will be honoured in our September 2012 issue, on newsstands August 9th, and will also receive $2,500 towards programming and supplies at their school!

If you know a teacher who is truly exceptional, let them know how much you appreciate their hard work by nominating them for a Great Teacher Award.

My husband Jason is a GREAT teacher(& husband & dad)! He teaches k-7 PE in Ladner, BC. He is at school coaching teams early in the morning and stays late to do the same in the evenings. In the winter he is directing the children’s Christmas play. All summer he is planning for the following year. On the weekend he can be found watching the extra curricular (not school related) activities of current and former students. Jason is the kind of teacher that holds a great passion and compassion for all of his students. In a school of 400 children he knows EVERY student by name. He leads by an example of hard work, positive attitude, fair play and genuine care for the wholeness of his students.

  2. My daughters teacher Jonathan Chiasson is the best teacher ever. He gives the children an exceptional look at learning with a little humor along the way. Jonathan deserves this award more than anyone I know, he is supportive, creative, funny, and really cares about the children’s education. He is very deserving of this award!

We love to hear about great teachers, Amanda. If you really want to sing Mr. Chiasson’s praises, make sure to fill out the form (linked the post above) so everyone else can hear your favourite exceptional teacher.
