One of the most talked about baby bumps of 2011 had to be Beyoncé’s, which the singer revealed in true diva style at end of her live performance at the VMAs. And now the wait is finally over, as Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z welcomed their baby girl on Saturday.
While it has yet to be confirmed by the couple’s reps, various media outlets have reported that the baby’s name is Blue Ivy. And the New York Daily News suggests that there may be some deep meaning behind baby Blue’s name:
“Jay-Z’s seminal 2001 album was titled “The Blueprint,” and it became the first in a trilogy, with two more Blueprint records in 2002 and 2009… Ivy, meanwhile, is rumored to be a play on IV, the Roman numeral for the power couple’s beloved number four.”
And yes, there is already a rap song about Baby Carter, courtesy of proud papa Jay-Z. (You can listen to it below.)
Update: The couple has released a joint statement announcing the birth of their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. According to the statement on Beyoncé’s website: “She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives.”
What do you think of the name Blue Ivy?
