What I like about the newest trend in accessories—patterned tights—is that they are an easy way to add texture, dimension, fun and personality to an outfit without making a huge dent in your wallet. Ditch your boring old black opaque tights and opt for something with diamonds, hearts or stripes.
Added bonus? They are simultaneously sensible and sexy.
Here are some tips if you are planning to add some pattern to your legs:
• Do not go overboard. Legs look far more flattering if you stick to simple patterns like polka dots or flowers.
• If you are nervous about making too much of a statement, start small. Wear patterned tights under a skirt and knee-high boots. Only let your patterned tights peek out!
• Make sure you keep the rest of the outfit simple.
You can find patterned tights all over Canada, but these are a few of my personal favourites:
• Two-Tone Chevron Tights, $15, Jacob
• Openwork Lace Tights, $19, Gap
• Polka Dot Tights, (shown here), $10, Urban Outfitters
• Diamond Grid Tights, $7, Forever 21
• Herringbone Tights, $19, J.Crew
