As if you needed another reason to go to Ikea.

Beginning today, Ikea will donate $1 for every soft toy and kids’ meal they sell to UNICEF and Save the Children to help them provide access to quality education for kids around the world. Funds raised will go towards the purchase of school supplies and will help improve school facilities, including access to safe drinking water in schools and sanitary toilet facilities for students.

The campaign will run from November 1st to December 31st at all 11 Canadian Ikea locations. The goal this year is to raise $315,000 at the Canadian stores, and the campaign as a whole has raised $46 million since its launch in 2003. To date, the campaign has supported 95 programs in 45 countries and have helped 8 million students around the world.

We can’t think of a better reason to eat Swedish meatballs and buy stuffed animals.
