I have two daughters. One has a thick mane of straight, brown locks. The other has a dirty blonde mess of wavy hair. One loves to have her hair brushed and often requests it; the other screams the house down if I even dare to approach her with a comb or brush. I have tried everything to get her to cooperate, including threats to chop off of all of her golden locks. Nothing worked.

Nothing—that is—until I found a magical cure for the girl who hates to have her hair brushed.

If you are the parent of a child like this, you will thank me for this. I promise. Simply arm yourself with your brush in one hand and a package of dry-erase markers in the other. Invite your child to do the unthinkable: invite her to sit on your bathroom sink and colour with dry-erase markers on your mirror while you brush her hair. She will be so distracted that you have given her permission to something that’s normally forbidden that she will barely even notice the tugging and pulling that’s going on behind her.

Genius, right?
