If you’ve found yourself with a surplus of bananas that will soon be a little too ripe to eat, you’ve got a few options: make some banana bread, freeze them for smoothies and—our new favourite idea—spear them with a popsicle stick, freeze them and then dip them in chocolate for a yummy afternoon treat kids will love.

We came across this fab idea from Hollie on her site, The Seven Year Cottage. It’s a great recipe for junior chefs, too—they’ll need some help with the cutting, but can have free rein when it comes time to decorate their pops.

What you’ll need:
• Bananas
• Popsicle sticks
• Melting chocolate
• Decorations of your choice (think sprinkles, nuts, cookie crumbs, etc.)

You’ll find the full instructions for making these frozen banana bites over at The Seven Year Cottage. You can even try this recipe with different kinds of fruit—we think chocolate-dipped strawberry and kiwi bites would be pretty yummy, too!
