When’s the last time you had a romantic getaway with your partner? Not a night of drinking wine in front of the warm glow of the TV (not that there’s anything wrong with that), but an honest-to-goodness getaway? For most couples, it’s a daunting idea that requires a lot of planning and work—booking time off from the office, finding care for the kids, plus the whole financial aspect—which inevitably results in a decision to just stay home. Enter Jaunt.ca, a new website offering travel packages at discounted prices, powered by the popular group-buying site WagJag.com and travelalerts.ca. Jaunt’s motto is “unique getaways within reach,” with a goal of making getaways more accessible so that you can have a great luxury experience without breaking the bank. Getting away for a week to a tropical island isn’t always feasible, but having grandparents watch the kids for one night so that you can reconnect with your partner? That’s an idea we can get behind.
We were lucky enough to experience one of these jaunts first-hand, staying overnight at the beautiful The Old Mill Inn & Spa in Toronto, where we kayaked along the scenic Humber River with Toronto Adventures and enjoyed a relaxing soak in the whirlpool tub in our luxury suite. A similar experience is normally valued at $509, but Jaunt.ca offers the package—which includes one night accommodation at The Old Mill, the option of kayaking or a $100 gift card (to use toward a delectable dinner or pampering spa treatments), continental breakfast and on-site bike rentals to explore the area—for $300.
The site offers different packages in cities across Canada, with new deals added every week. Whether you want to enjoy a gastronomical adventure in Ottawa or cocktails at a trendy hotel in Vancouver, you’re bound to find something that will suit your taste. The site even offers getaways to locations in the United States. We think it would make for a great anniversary or birthday gift, or a romantic surprise any time of the year.
