Product: Infantino SlingRider and Wendy Bellissimo Infant Sling Carriers
Joint Recall with Infantino LLC, Health Canada, and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC)
Description: Infantino – a fabric carrier with a padded shoulder meant for toddlers up 20 lbs. The warning label has the words “Infantino” and “Slingrider” as well as the item number printed on it and is found inside the carrier. The word “Infantino” is also on the strap’s plastic slider.
Wendy Bellissimo – the label sewn on the inside of the sling strap and features the words “Wendy Bellissimo Media, Inc” and the item numbers.
Infantino SlingRider item numbers beginning with: 141, 151, 551, 741, 751
Wendy Bellissimo item numbers: 3937500H7, 3937501H7
Hazard: The fabric of the carrier strap and the adult’s body can press against the baby’s nose and mouth, causing suffocation or asphyxiation.
Time Period/Locations Sold: January 2003-March 2010 at Walmart, Babies R Us, national baby and children’s stores and online stores such as Amazon.com.
Reports of Incidents/Injuries related to the recalled product to either Health Canada and/or the manufacturer: None in Canada but in the US three deaths were reported related to the SlingRider.
Corrective Action: If using any of these products with a child under 4 months of age, cease doing so and contact Infantino for a replacement product at no charge. Do not try to fix the carriers.
