Health Canada Reminder about “Little People” toys
They may be old, but they’re popular! Fisher Price’s “Little People” toys have been a hit with kids for decades, but Health Canada is warning that figures manufactured before 1991 pose the threat of choking and even death for toddlers. The figures, which feature a girl, a dog and a boy with a frog among other characters are small enough to become lodged in a child’s throat if swallowed. Recently, 10-month old child died after swallowing and choking on one of the toys. These toys are also still sold in some second-hand stores.
If you have any questions or concerns, contact Health Canada toll-free at 1-866-662-0666, or by email at cps-spc@hc-sc.gc.ca (if contacting via e-mail, please indicate the province or territory from which you are corresponding).
