Following a recent post on our blog, reader Lauren commented: “My younger sister, who is only eight might I add, told me that she feels pressured into wearing make-up and certain clothes and do her hair just to fit in with her classmates. It’s bad enough in high school, but elementary school? Personally I find that ridiculous. Everything now, media, TV, movies… it all revolves around sexuality.” Sad, but true… Or so we thought.

Enter Amy Poehler. The actress and comedian (and mom!) who stole our hearts on SNL has teamed up with friends Meredith Walker and Amy Miles to produce Smart Girls at the Party, a show from ON Networks that “celebrates girls who are changing the world by being themselves.” Witty and entertaining, Smart Girls gives young women the chance to talk about their passions and feel like they are being heard. And the bottom line? Being cool is really just about being yourself and finding something you love.

Whether they’re hanging with an all-girl rock band, learning yoga from a pint-sized Yogini, or getting lessons on Feminism from a 7 year old, Poehler, Walker and Miles prove that smart girls grow up to be smart—and successful—women. And that’s a message we can definitely get behind.

Check out the clip below to learn more about the show.
