Open Question: Are prisons more fun than playgrounds?

If you listen to Toronto-based classic rock radio station Q107, you might have heard this morning an off-the-cuff joke that got us to thinking. The hosts of the morning show were chatting and joking, as they often do, and someone mentioned the restrictions placed on outdoor play at schools (more of a problem here in Hogtown, what with the gangs and all), which lead to the musing that prisons may indeed be more fun than playgrounds these days.
They weren’t serious, of course, but the comment did spark some debate here in the office.
When do the safety precautions we put in place to protect our kids become more harmful than helpful?
